TNFJ demands withdrawal of ban on Ziarat (Pilgrimages) via Land Routes

Rawalpindi (July 27, 2025 ) The Secretary General of Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya Pakistan, Allama Raja Basharat Hussain Imami, has demanded the government to revoke its decision of banning pilgrimages via land routes. He stated that such a ban gives the impression that the state is helpless in the face of terrorism. Instead, by securing pilgrimage journeys, the state should exhibit its power in a practical manner. The ban would deprive poor pilgrims of the sacred journey. Pakistan’s military is fully capable of providing protection to the Zaireen (pilgrims). The government and the people of Pakistan will jointly defeat the terrorist through unity.

Allama Basharat Hussain Imami said that the journey of the pilgrims to Imam Hussain (a.s) is a practical manifestation of love for the Ahl-ul- Bayt and recognition of truth, the rewards and virtues of which cannot be encompassed. The Secretary General of TNFJ noted that pilgrims have already spent billions of rupees, and the sudden ban will result in severe financial losses for them. He emphasized that it is the government’s duty to provide equal protection and basic rights to all citizens, and this responsibility must not be neglected under any circumstances.

He further clarified that their spiritual leader and the head of the Shiite community, Quaid e Millat e Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, always taught us to raise the voice of truth even during the darkest period of martial law. Therefore, any restriction on the mourning rituals of Imam Hussain (A.S) or the sacred journey of Zaireen will never be accepted.
