Brethren in Islam!
The best, most prominent, most complete religion amongst the world religions is Islam and only Islam. Principle (usool) has been termed religion while principle and collection of its minor points (faroo) have been termed Shariat in the Holy Quran. The religion remained the same from Hazrat Adam (A.S.) to
Khatam-un- Nabiyyeen (seal of the prophets) Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). Changes in Shariats were, however, witnessed owing to different personalities and eras. There are five Shariats. About the differences in Shariats, God says:
(
We made Shariat for everyone of you and laid down a clear path)
The Holy Prophet (SAW) is the last prophet and his Shariat the last Shariat, no prophet would come after him and accordingly no further Shariat, and the Shariat of the Holy Prophet (SAW) would remain intact till Hereafter. Its crystal that no Shariat could remain intact without its defender and protector. Therefore a defender and protector of Shariat-e-Muhammadi is a prerequisite in every era from God. The Prophet and the Messenger is used to be preacher of the religion and Shariat while Imam acts as its defender and protector. Therefore conditions for the defender of Shariat would be the same as are for the Messenger and the Prophet. That is why
was revealed at a time when
was announced. Therefore, Allama ibne Wazeh writes:
is the last Ayah of the Holy Quran and it was sent in Ghadeer-e-Khum. One of the personalities from amongst the defenders of Shariat is the personality whose Youm-e-Shahadat (martyrdom anniversary) is being observed by us as 3-day Ayyam-e-Aza. He is Quran-e-Natiq Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq
(A.S.).
From the A’aimma Ahle Bait Hazrat Abu Abdullah Jafar As-Sadiq was from amongst Sadaat-e-Ahle Bait. Muslims agree on his majestic, valuable and chieftain approach. “As-Sadiq” was a famous title for him. He was brought up under the patronage of his grandfather Hazrat Imam Zain Al-Abideen (A.S.) till he was 12 years of age, later he took guidance from his father Hazrat Imam Muhammad Baqar (A.S.) for 19 years. Some revolutionary happenings took place during the era of his Imamate; the Banu Umayyad era ended; Banu Abbas era began; he remained alive till the era of Mansoor Dawanqi. The Imam (A.S.) found an opportunity to continue preaching Islam and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) owing to tension that grew up between Banu Abbas and Banu Umayyad. He faced tremendous difficulties but did not discontinue preaching and guidance. He did not even fear while performing his obligation and kept himself firm to such extend in face of oppressive attitude of the opponents so as to achieve victory for the religion and the Shariat and to make the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) public. The Imam (A.S.) found a great Hoza Ilmia in Madina in which different madressahs thousands of people were imparted education in different sciences and departments. More than 4,000 people used to repeat his statements regarding fiqh and Islamic knowledge only and arrange discussion on it. A collection of 400 principles of Hadis and Ma’arif-e-Islami which is the only essence of our four recognized books: Kaafi, Mann La Yahzar Al-Faqih, Tehzeeb Al-Ahkaam, and Istabsaar, is the treasure transformed by Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (A.S.) to his able pupils. Abaan bin Tughlab, Muhammad bin Muslim, Zararah bin A’ain, Momin Taaq and other uncountable pupils benefited from the training Maktab of the Imam (A.S.). Students like Jabir bin Hayan Saqafi and Hasham bin Hakam achieved their training in Physics and Sheemia from the Imam (A.S.) and his both these pupils are now considered founders of the sciences of Sheemia and Chemistry.
The Imam (A.S.) is called the founder of Fiqh-e-Jafariya because he got the time and opportunity for promoting and preaching Islamic knowledge, which no one else could find. This is the reason that he presented the constitution and the principles of the Holy Prophet (SAW) to the world in a manner that people got awareness about Islam yet again. That is why people know Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (A.S.) as the founder of Dastoor-e-Muhammadi and the fiqh given by him is called Fiqh-e-Jafariya. Today Fiqh-e-Jafariya is getting more attraction than other schools of fiqh in the process of constitution making. Jamia Al-Azhar, Egypt has recognized Fiqh-e-Jafariya in its traditional and constitutional capacity and the Rais Al-Jamia (president of the university) has willed to follow this fiqh like other schools of
fiqh.
Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya came into being in Pakistan, when Gen. Ziaul Haq announced to make Pakistan a State of particular fiqh contrary to the principles, laid down by Quaid-i-Azam. This Tehreek by taking over the Pakistan Secretariat declared upon the world that Fiqh-e-Jafariya and those who follow it are alive like ever and today Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya, Pakistan is the only representative active organization of the Maktab-e-Tashayyo by the grace of God. This Tehreek checked the conspiracy to declare Pakistan a sectarian State and got the Fiqh-e-Jafariya recognized on the basis of equality in an agreement signed with the then government in 1980. Junejo-Moosavi agreement signed in 1985 provided further strength to this Tehreek. Courtesy this Tehreek, Islam was declared Pakistan’s state religion and it was instrumental in getting the explanation of Quran and Sunnah approved according the Article 227 of the 1973 Constitution as explained by the respective schools of thought themselves. Tehreek Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya, Pakistan is going smoothly and it considers the protection of Fiqh-e-Jafariya and Pakistan as its Iman (faith), it has resolved not to get Pakistan alight Nazria-e-Asaasi (basic ideology) from it.
Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (A.S.) kissed martyrdom on Shawaal 15 (ba rawayat-e-mukhtalefah) in the era of Mansoor Khalifa Abbasi who was instrumental in killing great personalities in the wake of dirty politics of that time. Hazrat Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (A.S.) was martyred through poisoning. We present condolences to the whole world of humanity, Islamic World, the World of Shariat and Spiritualism on this great religious and spiritual loss and observe this martyrdom, and remembering such personalities is a source of strength for Iman because talking about the piousness, struggle and sacrifices of the Khasan-e-Khuda (selected by Allah) is actually a research and struggle to know how much struggle they made in the way of God. It is a great source of putting the human beings on the pedestal of development’s Mirage and inculcates the pious spirit in a person to follow them in letter and spirit. Therefore, their days should be observed by holding religious functions, Majalis, seminars etc. so that to remind those happenings, incidents, statements and Khutbaat (sermons) to the world of humanity that were commensurate with these holy personalities. Here is a saying of the Holy Prophet (SAW) as stated by Hazrat Ma’az
(R.A.):
(Remembering or talking about Anbia is worship and remembering the pious people is atonement of sins and remembering death is
Sadqa)
Now the more one remembers the holy personalities, the more reward (Sawaab) he will get. At present, as you all know, the whole world of humanity is on the target of colonial powers, Hindus and Zionists, their particular targets are the personalities of religion and Shariat while Osama is just a pretext. International colonial powers shattered Afghanistan in the garb of New York and Washington incidents after destructing Iraq. They made Muslims to slit Muslims and after Afghanistan, they were now hurling threats on Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and other oppressed nations in the garb of one reason or the other, they have imposed Sharon on Palestinians and Vajpayee on Kashmiris. Now after the attack on Indian Parliament in Delhi, India has bent upon initiating war with Pakistan. That means all Muslim and oppressed nations were now in the grip of international Taghoot (devil). Our survival lay in following in the footsteps of Ahle Bait Athaar (A.S.) if we desire to get out of their grip.
Wassalam,
Khakpai Muwaliyan-e-A’aima Huda,
(AGHA SYED HAMID ALI SHAH MOOSAVI)
