Brethren in Iman & Islam!
There are two aspects of human life: materialistic and spiritual, and two directions: worldly and religious. In the materialistic and worldly life every one struggles to fulfil his needs and requirements, materialistic and worldly life has been considered
while in the religious and spiritual life a human being right from his creation and nature had been thinking what is world? There is a Creator? Who is He? What is the objective of life? And what else? etc. etc. and the opinion he derives is declared his Maslak and religion, and the belief he achieves regarding that opinion is Iman. Islam means “Gar Dan Nihadan” and Iman means to belief but “belief” does not carry that compactness which the word “Iman” has. Allam Iqbal utilizes the word “Iman” in the following manner:
(When we become devotee of a person to the extent that we could keep full faith in him without any doubt and reservation that we say that we keep Iman in
him)
In other words, Iman is the name of belief by heart and there is an Ayah supporting that belief:
(
and a person with Iman from amongst the people of Pharaoh {Haz Qail} who kept on hiding his Iman asked {the people} whether they are bent upon killing a person who {only} says that my Creator is Allah)
That is why Holy Quran has made a distinction between Iman and Islam:
(Baddus say we have adopted Iman, Oh, Prophet! Tell them that you have not adopted Iman rather tell them to say that we adopted Islam for the reason that Iman has not yet entered their hearts)
Therefore, it has proved that Iman and Islam are two separate things; nouns of both are active “Momin” and “Muslim”. In the light of Ayahs mentioned above, every Momin could be termed Muslim but every Muslim could not be termed a Momin. The three couplets of Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) are presented below to gauge the standard of Iman he had about the Nabuwwat and Risalat of the Holy Prophet (SAW):
(Oh, Prophet! You invited me towards Islam and I am sure that you are true in your invitation towards Islam and you are already Sadiq and
Ameen)
(It is my Iman that the religion of Muhammad S.A.W. is the best amongst all religions the world over)
(By God, these atheists could not cause any harm to you even joining hands till Abu Talib is alive)
Thus it has been proved that Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) was not only a Momin but was on the highest standard of Iman that had transformed him into Kamil Al-Iman because Iman is the name of belief by heart therefore if Iman is not declared owing to some reservation even then it makes no difference. Had Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) declared his Iman openly then he would not have in a position to help the Holy Prophet (SAW) in a way that he did. His keeping Iman declared and undeclared was like the Momin Aal-e-Pharaoh who extended help to Hazrat Musa Kaleem Allah (A.S.) by keeping their Iman undeclared. Had the Momin Aal-e-Pharaoh declared their Iman they would have confronted harm themselves and for Hazrat Musa (A.S.) also. Momin Aal-e-Pharaoh remained Momin even by not declaring their belief in Iman by heart and the Holy Quran talks about them in very respectable manner: then why the elderly uncle of the Holy Prophet (SAW), Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) could not be a Momin by keeping his Iman undeclared?
It had been the Godly Sunnah that blessing of any non-Muslim was not acceptable for any prophet and the messenger from amongst all prophets and messengers, then how could blessing of a person who would not be a Momin could be acceptable for Khatmi Martabat (SAW) who is best amongst them all and called Syed-ul-Mursaleen (SAW) ? After Hazrat Abd Al-Mutlib (A.S.), there is a great personality in the universe by the name of Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) who has the honour of being the patron of Rasool Allah (SAW). Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) has the singular honour that Allah is considering his upbringing to Him directly:
(Oh Rasool! Allah found you orphan. Thus Allah has provided you refuge)
In other words Allah is considering the refuge of Abu Talib (A.S.) as His own refuge. This saying of Allah is a clear-cut proof for Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) being Kamil Al-Iman.
Ayatollah Shaikh Muhammad Hussain Ispahani Najafi who is a singular poet from amongst the great poets who wrote on the topic of Hadis-e-Ghadeer says: the guiding light despite being hidden in the heart of Am-e-Mustafa (Holy Prophet’s uncle) is crystal clear. His hidden Iman raised his name to utmost heights that no one but only the pious hands could touch it. That personality is Abu Talib (A.S.) who is patron of Khatum-un-Nabiyyin (SAW), he supported and cooperated with the Paighambar (SAW) with full force, he was the only supporter of Paighambar-e-Islam (SAW) in his era, he was a strong supporter of the Paighambar (SAW) in the initial days of preaching of Islam, was the tribal leader of the Quraish, he was the person who acted as a strong refuge for the Prophet (SAW) in hour of need. Abu Talib (A.S.) stood up in support of the Paighambar (SAW) with full force ultimately strengthening the foundation and smoothening the pillars of Islam. He spent all force at his disposal in defending the Paighambar (SAW) achieving the goal of brightening his religion at last. Abu Talib (A.S.) supported the Paighambar (SAW) contrary to atheist Quraish who chose the path of teasing him. It was the power and dignified stance of Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) that put down the oppressors of that time. This honour is enough for Abu Talib (A.S.) that he patronized the prophet of Allah. The decent words of Hazrat Abu Talib’s (A.S.) in praise of the Paighambar (SAW) had more edge than the sword, the sword that came down heavily on the enemies of Paighambar (SAW). Umm-ul-Qura derived its lightening from the “Noor” of Abu Talib (A.S.), the “Noor” that was like the “Noor” of Koh-e-Toor (rather more higher than that) and why not it should be, he is Abu Al-A’aimma, many suns and moons were derived from him. Abu Talib (A.S.) is the most pious branch of Shajra-e-Ibrahim (Shajra-e-Tayyaba) that is why he keeps special gentlemanship. He is the father of inheritor of the Holy Prophet (SAW), Hazrat Ali (A.S.) and Jafar-e-Tayyar (A.S.). I swear my life that it is the Mirage of honour and pride that city of Makkah was enlightened with the “Noor” of Abu Talib (A.S.), not only Makkah, but the earth and the skies also enlightened. It was the shadow of his statesmanship and bravery that Amr-e-Risalat of the Paighambar (SAW) was completed and it was his support that gave new heights to Islam and it is such a great honour that no one else could achieve. The supremacy of Parcham-e-Paighambar is because of the great courage shown by Abu Talib (A.S.) that is enough to declare the great status he enjoyed. This is Abu Talib (A.S.) who is declared entitled to praise but all these praises could not gauge the height of his capabilities. The patronage and greatness of Abu Talib (A.S.) is greater than all praise but this praise is his remembrance that enlightens
our hearts. – (Excerpts from Al-Ghadeer Allama Ameeni)
Observing the days of pious persons is an important element of strengthening Iman, religious and moral basis and meaningful and spiritual values. Actually talking about, remembering them and observing their days is a good thing that highlights different aspects of their pious lives that are hitherto not unearthed so that the people could benefit from the same in toto and could identify their path leading to development and could inculcate the true spirit to follow in their foot-steps achieving supremacy of religion, lay a model example for others to follow. The God says about them:
(These are the people to whom Allah hath given guidance, therefore, follow their guidance)
Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) is a brave man, father of Ali (A.S.), elderly uncle of the Holy Prophet (SAW), had he been not there the Muslims would not have gained strength, people would remained deprived of Tauheed. That is why Makkah turned into a narrow and dark city for the Holy Prophet (SAW) despite its full expansions after the demise of Abu Talib (A.S.). I challenge to the whole Islamic World, and the era of the Holy Prophet (SAW) stand witness to it that the Holy Prophet (SAW) expressed sorrow on the martyrdom of pious Sahaba Kubaar (R.A.) and even some great personalities of his Khanwada but only two personalities i.e. Ummul Momineen Hazrat Khadijatul Kubra (S.A.) amongst the womenfolk and Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) amongst the menfolk, that their death was declared Aam Al-Huzn. The Holy Prophet (SAW) spent that whole year in mourning shedding tears for both these personalities. How great that person would be, and how complete his Iman would be, that for him Mustafa (SAW) shed tears the whole year, a year days of which were darker than nights. It was the great personality of Abu Talib (A.S.), uncle of Mustafa (SAW), father of Murtaza (A.S.) and Juda-e-A’ala of Hujjat-e-Khuda Imam Mehdi (A.S.). Terming the year of Hazrat Abu Talib’s (A.S.) death by the Holy Prophet (SAW) is a proof of Iman-e-Abu Talib (A.S.) and declares that Paighambar-e-Islam (SAW) had immense love for Abu Talib (A.S.) because of his devotion with Paighambar-e-Islam and love for religion and
Shariat.
I have announced to observe the Wafat Hasrat-e-Ayaat Abu Talib (A.S.) on 25th and 26th Rabiul Awwal as
Ayyam Al-Huzn so that the world of humanity in general, and the world of religion and Shariat in particular, may follow the path of Abu Talib (A.S.) by remembering Shoeb-e-Abu Talib (A.S.), do not be afraid of problems, and do not gets upset from detention. If we have to check the colonial powers and their allies, their Zionist and Hindu agents, India-Israel collusion, if the oppressed nations of Kashmir and Palestine desire annexation of Kashmir, independence of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and Palestine then we should tell the Taghooti world following in the foot-steps of Abu Talib (A.S.) that we 1.25 billion Muslims are united, Pakistan is citadel of Islam and we are proud of being a nuclear power. We should tell them that attack on any of us would be considered an attack on religion and Shariat. If we commit these goals then like Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.) had said that in my presence no one could cause any harm to Muhammad (SAW), I am sure the international Taghoot would also be not able to divert us from the right path, would not be able to bow down or wipe us out, would not be able to create rift and anarchy amongst us and no conspiracy or ill-will would succeed against us. Let us reiterate our resolve while presenting condolences to the Khatmi Martabat (SAW) and his inheritors for their elderly uncle that we are one Ummah and would give practical display of unity and brotherhood becoming united and pious that we would prove a concrete wall and Zulfiqar-e-Haideri against the enemies of religion and motherland.
Khakpai Ghulaman-e-Hazrat Abu Talib (A.S.),
(AGHA SYED HAMID ALI SHAH MOOSAVI)
Quaid Tehreek Nafaz Fiqh-e-Jafariya Pakistan
25-26 Rabiul Awwal, 1423 A.H.
